Registration numbers granted to 32 515 REACH 2018 registrations

Registration numbers have been granted to 32 515 dossiers out of the 33 363 dossiers that were submitted by the final REACH registration deadline on 31 May. These registrations cover 10 708 chemicals. The other dossiers still lack information and ECHA is waiting for companies to update them before granting registration numbers.

Six proposals to identify new substances of very high concern (SVHCs)

The substances and examples of their uses are:

  • Undecafluorohexanoic acid (EC 206-196-6; CAS 307-24-4 - PFHxA) and its ammonium salt (EC 244-479-6; CAS 21615-47-4 - APFHx). No direct uses of PFHxA as such are known. PFHxA precursors can be used as surfactants or as monomers for the production of side-chain fluorinated polymers. Ammonium undecafluorohexanoate (APFHx), the ammonium salt of PFHxA is used in industrial settings mainly in connection with the manufacture and processing of polymers.
  • 2,2-bis(4'-hydroxyphenyl)-4-methylpentane (EC 401-720-1; CAS 6807-17-6). There are no active registrations under REACH.
  • Fluoranthene (EC 205-912-4; CAS 206-44-0). Not registered under REACH. Normally not produced intentionally but rather occurs as a constituent or impurity in other substances.
  • Benzo[k]fluoranthene (EC 205-916-6; CAS 207-08-9). Not registered under REACH. Normally not produced intentionally but rather occurs as a constituent or impurity in other substances.
  • Pyrene (EC 204-927-3; CAS 129-00-0). Used as a transported Intermediate for the manufacture of fine chemicals.
  • Phenanthrene (EC 201-581-5; CAS 85-01-8). Not registered under REACH. Normally not produced intentionally but rather occurs as a constituent or impurity in other substances.

The deadline for comments is 19 October 2018.

New proposals and intentions to harmonise classification and labelling

Two new intentions to harmonise classification and labelling have been received for:
  • 6-[C12-18-alkyl-(branched, unsaturated)-2,5-dioxopyrrolidin-1-yl]hexanoic acid (EC N/A , CAS 1424148-94-6) from Austria; and
  • Toluene-4-sulphonohydrazide (EC 216-407-3 , CAS 1576-35-8) from Germany.
A new submission for a proposal to harmonise classification and labelling has been received for:
  • Tetrafluoroethylene (EC 204-126-9, CAS 116-14-3) from Ireland.

Give your feedback on sector use maps

Take the opportunity to provide feedback on sector use maps if not yet done. Let us know about your experience in using sector use maps through our short questionnaire before 21 September 2018.

Your feedback will be used to improve our use map library and to gain insight into how the use maps are being used and how they could be further developed to meet your needs.
