International study on reputation of public sector organisations
ECHA has agreed to be part of an international scientific study into the measurement of reputation of public sector organisations. The study is being developed by the universities of Leiden, Utrecht (both in The Netherlands), and Sheffield (United Kingdom).

REACH 2018
Lead registrant list updated
ECHA has updated the list of substances for which a lead registrant has been declared in REACH-IT. It now includes 12 146 substances that have a joint submission and are either already registered or going to be registered for the REACH 2018 deadline.

SME registrants: Be ready to prove your company size
Small and medium-sized companies (SMEs) registering their substances under REACH benefit from a reduced registration fee. However, they have to be able to prove their SME size upon ECHA’s request.

Web form for substance in articles notifications closed on 6 October – REACH-IT online submission available from 7 November 2017
If you are an importer or producer of articles, please be aware that ECHA is modernising the online submission interface for substance in articles notifications. The web form will be closed from 6 October in order to prepare for the transition to the online submission interface of REACH-IT. During this interruption, notification through REACH-IT (using IUCLID) will run normally. If this interruption creates a problem or if you want to have additional information, contact the ECHA Helpdesk by selecting 'Technical support', then 'REACH-IT'.

RAC concludes on 10 opinions for harmonised classification and labelling
The Committee for Risk Assessment (RAC) concluded on 10 opinions for harmonised classification and labelling, including cobalt metal, titanium dioxide and metaldehyde. RAC and the Committee for Socio-economic Analysis (SEAC) also agreed on four draft opinions on two applications for authorisation and adopted one final opinion.

Supply chain communication
Use map for European Crop Protection Association
The use map and SPERCs of the European Crop Protection Association (ECPA) are now available in the use map library on our website. Registrants supplying to this sector are invited to use the information to prepare their 2018 registrations or improve their existing registration dossiers. ECPA is currently working on the development of the Chesar file for its use map and SPERCs. The Chesar file is expected to be added to the library by the end of the year. We encourage downstream user sectors that have not started to prepare their use maps to do so now.

Register now: Stock-taking Conference on the Implementation of REACH Authorisation
13-14 November 2017
ECHA, together with the European Commission, will organise a conference on applications for authorisation on 13-14 November in Helsinki.
The purpose of the conference is to assess the evolution and achievements of the authorisation process in terms of the progression of substitution, proper control of risks and cost-effectiveness. It will also discuss how to improve the process.
The registration for this free-of-charge conference will be open until 9 October.
