ECHA advises registrants to check their company information in REACH-IT

After the REACH-IT update in November, existing registrants will see who else has registered their substance or successfully submitted an inquiry.  ECHA advises all registrants to check the information they have submitted in their dossiers by the end of November to avoid unexpected disclosure of information.  

Helsinki, 17 October 2012 – A new feature in REACH-IT will provide full transparency to all registrants who have used the same numerical identifier for their substance in their dossiers. ECHA's aim is to help both the existing and potential registrants to better fulfil their data sharing and joint submission obligations. With the new version of REACH-IT, registrants will see all the names of legal entities that have received a registration or an inquiry number for the same substance.

The Co-Registrants Page will provide real time information on the identity, the contact details of other registrants (or of their nominated third party representative - TPR) and their role within the joint submission. The list of data requested during the inquiry process or after a tonnage update will also be displayed. The identity of the nominated TPR of the (potential) registrants will be automatically extracted from their IUCLID dossier (section 1.1).

ECHA strongly recommends that existing and potential registrants, having successfully inquired and/or registered, check the consistency of the information they have submitted in their dossiers to avoid their own company details from being unexpectedly disclosed.  In the specific case of notifications under the former Directive 67/548/EEC (NONS), whether claimed under REACH or not, ECHA advises their owner to assess whether their identity needs to be protected.

Consequently, the legal entities that wish to amend the current status of their dossier, for example to introduce updated TPR contact details, to join or merge existing joint submissions, will need to submit a spontaneous update of their registration dossier before the end of November 2012.

The REACH-IT homepage will be updated regularly to provide more details concerning the release date of the last version of REACH-IT that will be frozen up to the next registration deadline.
