ECHA publishes three Transitional Guidance documents concerning biocides
The European Chemicals Agency (ECHA) has published three Transitional Guidance documents for the Biocidal Products Regulation (BPR):

Efficacy Assessment for Product Type 21 Antifouling Products

Efficacy Assessment for Preservatives
-
Mixture toxicity assessment for biocidal products for the environment
In addition, the biocides guidance webpages are updated to provide information on the Transitional Guidance documents and updated information on the new guidance structure.

Registry of Intentions updated
CLH
One new intention for harmonised classification and labelling has been added to the Registry of Intentions. The new substance is: transfluthrin (EC 405-060-5).

Proceedings for the first Topical Scientific Workshop published
The proceedings for the first Topical Scientific Workshop of ECHA are now available. The workshop attracted over 100 experts from around the world and looked at the scientific principles for assessing risks to the sediment compartment in a regulatory context.

New ENES presentations published
The presentations from the Sixth ENES meeting (13-14 May 2014) have been published on ECHA's website. The Presentations focus on sector use maps, communicating exposure scenarios in the supply chain and mixtures.

Cefic publishes ESCom
The European Chemical Industry Council (Cefic) has published the ESCom Phrase Catalogue. This provides the standard phrases to be used in communicating the safe use of chemicals in exposure scenarios. The ESCom Phrase Catalogue can be downloaded in a Chesar compatible format.

Ninth Stakeholders' Day – conference material available
The Ninth Stakeholders' Day took place on 21 May in Helsinki.
ECHA welcomed over 200 participants from nearly 40 countries for the ninth Stakeholder's Day on 21 May and a further 1 455 followed online. You can find the presentations and a video recording of the day on our event page.

Article 95 of the Biocidal Products Regulation, which lists the active substances and product suppliers, is one of the last articles of the regulation but it is the starting point for companies to keep their biocidal products on the market. This webinar gives an overview of the status of the preliminary list published by ECHA, on the data requirements and evaluation principles for the submitted dossiers and on the regulatory aspects.
