Suche nach Alternativen
Sobald Sie Ihre Stoffe priorisiert und einige von ihnen für die Substitution ausgewählt haben, ist es an der Zeit, nach möglichen Alternativen zu suchen. Die Festlegung des Umfangs des Substitutionsprojekts ist entscheidend, da Sie in diesem Schritt Folgendes bestimmen:
a) das Ausmaß der geplanten Einbeziehung der Interessenträger,
b) die Ziele und Grundsätze, die dem Projekt zugrunde liegen,
c) die Entscheidungskriterien für die zu wählende Alternative.
Die Festlegung des Umfangs des Substitutionsprojekts beinhaltet auch die Definition der Bewertungsgrenzen. Auf diese Weise können Ressourcen gebündelt und ein Plan zur Bewertung von Alternativen erstellt werden, einschließlich der Planung, welche gesundheitlichen Auswirkungen, Expositionspfade, Lebenszyklussegmente und technischen Funktionsmerkmale/Leistungsmerkmale berücksichtigt werden müssen.
Sie sollten zunächst sorgfältig prüfen, ob ein echter Bedarf an der technischen Funktion des gefährlichen Stoffs besteht und/oder ob es andere Möglichkeiten gibt, das gleiche Ziel zu erreichen. Müssen Sie beispielsweise Ihren Kunden unbedingt einen gedruckten Beleg aushändigen, der gefährliche Farbentwickler enthalten kann, oder wäre ein elektronischer Beleg eine geeignete Alternative? Verschaffen Sie sich bei der Suche nach möglichen sichereren Alternativen einen umfassenden Überblick über Ihre Optionen, beispielsweise im Hinblick auf die Stoffe, technischen Verfahren und Produktdesigns, die Sie verwenden, sowie die organisatorischen oder methodischen Anpassungen, die Sie vornehmen könnten.
