Biocidal Products Committee adopts six opinions
ECHA/NA/17/04
The Biocidal Products Committee (BPC) has adopted opinions supporting the approval of three active substances for use in biocidal products used as preservatives and repellents and one opinion on the comparative assessment for anticoagulant rodenticides. One additional opinion is expected to be adopted by written procedure.
Helsinki, 7 March 2017 – The active substances are:
- MIT for product-type 12
- Fludioxonil for product-types 7, 9 and 10
- Margosa extract for product-type 19
The conclusion of the Committee is that these substances in the relevant product-types may be approved. The adopted opinions will serve as a basis for final decision-making by the European Commission and the Member States.
The approval of an active substance is granted for a defined number of years, not exceeding 10 years.
The opinion on the comparative assessment for anticoagulant rodenticides was requested by the Commission following an Article 75(1)(g) of the BPR procedure. The opinion concerns several questions raised by the Commission relevant for the comparative assessment addressing the availability and effectiveness of chemical and non-chemical alternatives to these rodenticides.
Another opinion, on cypermethrin for PT 18 will be proposed for adoption by written procedure.
The Committee met for the 19th time on 1-3 March 2017.
