CORRIGENDUM to ECHA's news item concerning the entering into force of an amendment of Annex I to PIC Regulation
ECHA/NI/14/06
Helsinki, 2 May 2014 – ECHA's e-News published on 30.04.2014 announced that "The European Commission amended the list of chemicals subject to an export notification (Annex I) under the PIC Regulation on 21 February 2014. The amendment applies from 1 May 2014." This announcement was unintentionally misleading.
The European Commission did indeed issue Regulation (EU) No 167/2014 on 21 February and its intention was to amend the precursor to the PIC regulation (Regulation 689/2008). However, given that Regulation 689/2008 had already been repealed, the new law has no effect and the list of chemicals subject to an export notification therefore remains unchanged. The Commission are now looking to issue an amendment to Annex I of the PIC Regulation shortly.
We apologise for any inconvenience or confusion caused by our misinterpretation of the situation.
