New CLH public consultations launched on tributyltin compounds and PHMB

ECHA invites the parties concerned to comment on new proposals for harmonised classification and labelling (CLH) of tributyltin compounds and PHMB. The public consultation will be open for 45 days and will end on 22 July 2013.
Helsinki, 06 June 2013 – Tributyltin compounds already have a harmonised group entry in Annex VI of the CLP Regulation, covering acute toxicity, specific target organ toxicity – repeated exposure, eye irritation, skin irritation and environmental hazards. The dossier submitter, Germany, proposes classification for reproductive toxicity and to update the entry for acute toxicity.
The other substance launched for public consultation is polyhexamethylene biguanide hydrochloride (PHMB). In its opinion of 9 September 2011, RAC agreed PHMB to be classified for acute toxicity by inhalation. However, in 2012, new data on acute toxicity was made available and the dossier submitter (France) is now proposing to change the classification from acute tox. 1 to acute tox. 2.
The CLH report, and the consultation webform, are available on the ECHA website. The comments received during the public consultation will be regularly published on the ECHA website during the 45-day consultation phase.
