A new release of ECHA's Chemical safety assessment and reporting tool Chesar (v1.1.3), that is fully compatible with IUCLID 5.3, can now be downloaded from the Chesar website.

Helsinki, 06 April 2011 - Chesar is a comprehensive tool developed by ECHA to assist companies in carrying out Chemical Safety Assessments (CSA) for the different uses of a substance and in preparing the Chemical Safety Report (CSR). Each registration dossier for substances above 10 tonnes has to contain a CSR. The tool can be downloaded as a plug-in to IUCLID 5.

Chesar enables the registrant to create a full Chemical Safety Report (CSR) once the hazard assessment and, when required, the exposure assessment have been finalised. The CSR is created in text format as well as in exchangeable database format (XML Docbook format).

Please note that Chesar 1.1.3 can only be installed on the IUCLID 5.3, standalone or distributed version. The new Chesar 1.1.3 installation packages and manuals for IUCLID 5.3 distributed and standalone versions are available on the Chesar website.

No new functionalities were added to the Chesar application itself compared to version 1.1.2. The new application simply resolved some reported technical shortcomings (for more details, see Chesar 1.1.3 release notes). Because of this, Chesar 1.1.3 has been tested only within ECHA and not with industry users. User feedback is however very welcome and will be taken into account in the development of future upgrades of Chesar.
