National Inspectorates - Iceland
The Environment Agency of Iceland is responsible for the implementation and enforcement of REACH, CLP, BPR and POP regulations as well as other regulations with a legal basis in the Icelandic Chemicals Act No 61/2013. The Environment Agency carries out inspections with large producers and companies which have operating permits issued by the Agency. It also acts as the overall coordinator for enforcement and inspections and supplies information and training for inspectors in other authorities. Some aspects of enforcement of these regulations are handled by the following authorities:
- Local health authorities carry out inspections with producers holding operating permits issued by them.
- The Administration of Occupational Safety and Health is responsible for enforcement of the OSH aspect of the regulations.
- The Consumer Agency is responsible for enforcement of provisions related to advertising.
