Call for evidence launched on the persistence and bioaccumulation of two substances
The UK competent authority has indicated, through an entry on the Registry of Intentions, that they will submit a proposal to restrict Octamethylcyclotetrasiloxane (D4) (EC No. 209-136-7, CAS No. 556-67-2) and Decamethylcyclopentasiloxane (D5) (EC No. 208-764-9, CAS No. 541-02-6) from being placed on the market or used in concentrations equal to or greater than 0.1% by weight of each in personal care products that are washed off in normal use conditions.
ECHA's Executive Director has asked the Member State Committee to give an opinion on the persistence and bioaccumulative properties of the two substances under Article 77(3) of REACH. This opinion will then be used by the Risk Assessment Committee in their deliberations on the restriction proposal.
This call for evidence is open from 15 October 2014 until 29 November 2014.
