ECHA/NR/22/16
Paul Krajnik will chair ECHA’s governing board for the next two years. The Board also confirmed that Dr Sharon McGuinness would start as ECHA's Executive Director on 1 December 2022.
Helsinki, 30 September 2022 – ECHA’s Management Board has re-elected its current chair, Paul Krajnik, to lead its work for two more years, starting on 1 October 2022. He is the Deputy Director for Chemicals Policy and Biocides, and the Head of Biocides at the Austrian Federal Ministry for Climate Action, Environment, Energy, Mobility, Innovation and Technology.
Paul Krajnik says: “I thank Board members for their consistent support and trust during my first term. I now look forward to working with the new Executive Director and the secretariat to ensure that ECHA can address its current and future challenges arising from the ambitious EU objectives related to chemicals.”
The term of office of Management Board chairs is two years and may be renewed once.
The Board also concluded the appointment process of ECHA’s new Executive Director, Dr Sharon McGuinness. This followed an exchange of views with members of the European Parliament, which took place on 4 July 2022. Dr McGuinness will start her first five-year term on 1 December 2022.
