The total number of registrations (19 772) provides the baseline against which the 5% target of CCHs to be concluded by the end of 2013 (989 CCHs) is calculated.

ECHA performed both overall and targeted checks on dossiers (approximately at a 30:70 ratio). Therefore the target number for overall compliance checks was 297. By the end of the year ECHA concluded a total of 321 overall checks. The target number for targeted compliance checks was 692. ECHA concluded 809 targeted compliance checks. All together ECHA concluded on 1130 compliance checks.

Only registrations satisfying the criteria of the 2010 deadline are counted (i.e. phase-in only, above 1 000 tonnes per year; carcinogenic, mutagenic or toxic for reproduction (CMR) above one tonne per year or very persistent, very bioaccumulative (vPvB)/persistent, bioaccumulative and toxic (PBT) above 100 tonnes per year). The latest submission of a registration is used for evaluation.

Whilst transported isolated intermediates are included, on-site isolated intermediate registrations are not included when calculating the 5% target as they are not subject to the evaluation process. Non-phase-in dossier registrations are also not included in the target as they are not motivated by the 2010 registration deadline.
