PBT assessment: overall result

PBT status:
the substance is not PBT / vPvB

1,2-Dichloroethane is a monoconstituent substance with a purity of > 99%. There is no other constituent or impurity that requires assessment for PBT except for the main component.

The available evidence on degradation, bioaccumulation potential, and toxicity for 1,2-dichloroethane indicates that the screening criteria for persistence (P) and toxicity (T) are met, whereas the screening criteria for bioaccumulation potential (B) are not met. Therefore, 1,2-dichloroethane is not considered a PBT/vPvB.

Likely routes of exposure:

Exposure via air emissions is the most important route of environmental exposure.
