Hledání alternativ
Jakmile stanovíte, které látky jsou prioritní, a vyberete některé z nich jako látky, které mají být nahrazeny, nastal čas najít potenciální alternativy. Stanovení rozsahu projektu nahrazení je zásadní. Jedná se totiž o krok, v rámci kterého určíte:
a) úroveň zapojení zúčastněných stran, kterou hodláte provést;
b) cíle a zásady, z nichž projekt vychází; a
c) kritéria rozhodování o tom, kterou alternativu zvolit.
Součástí stanovení rozsahu projektu nahrazení je i vymezení hranic posuzování. Pomůže vám to zaměřit se na zdroje a nastínit plán k posouzení alternativ, včetně naplánování toho, které zdravotní účinky, cesty expozice, části životního cyklu a atributy technické funkčnosti / výkonu je třeba zohlednit.
Nejprve byste měli pečlivě zvážit, zda je skutečně nutná technická funkce poskytovaná nebezpečnou látkou, a/nebo zda k dosažení téhož cíle vedou jiné cesty. Například musíte svým zákazníkům skutečně poskytovat vytištěný příjmový doklad, který může obsahovat nebezpečné inkoustové vývojky, nebo by byl vhodnou alternativou elektronický příjmový doklad? Při přemýšlení o možných bezpečnějších alternativách zkoumejte své možnosti více zeširoka, např. látky, technické postupy a návrhy výrobku a organizační či metodické úpravy, které byste mohli použít.
