Sphene, chromium tin pink violet
An inorganic pigment that is the reaction product of high temperature calcination in which tin oxides and chromium oxides in varying amounts are homogeneously and ionically interdiffused to form a crystalline matrix of sphene. Its composition may include any one or a combination of the modifiers aluminium oxide, lead oxide, boron oxide, cobalt oxide, cerium oxide, silicon oxide, nickel oxide, manganese oxide, lanthanum oxide, iron oxide, zirconium oxide, molybdenum oxide and the oxides and/or halides of the alkali metals and alkaline earths.
