Data platform availability banner - registered substances factsheets

Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Remarks on result:
other: The sample in its delivery state was tested.
Interpretation of results:
not classified based on GHS criteria
Conclusions:
Hydroxyprogesteron is a not self heating substance and has no pyrophoric properties and is in the sense of the CLP-Directive a non-pyrophoric solid.
Executive summary:

Hydroxyprogesteron is a not self heating substance and has no pyrophoric properties and is in the sense of the CLP-Directive a non-pyrophoric solid.

Endpoint:
flammable solids
Type of information:
experimental study
Adequacy of study:
key study
Study period:
2001
Reliability:
2 (reliable with restrictions)
Rationale for reliability incl. deficiencies:
guideline study without detailed documentation
Qualifier:
according to guideline
Guideline:
EU Method A.10 (Flammability (Solids))
Deviations:
no
GLP compliance:
no
Key result
Test procedure:
burning rate test: preliminary screening test
Remarks:
mould with triangular cross section according to EU method A.10
Moisture (wt %):
0.07
Remarks on result:
other: The substance should not be considered as highly flammable and no further testing (burning rate test) is required
Interpretation of results:
GHS criteria not met
Conclusions:
Hydroxyprogesteron is not to be considered as highly flammable.
Executive summary:

The flammability was determined according to the Directive 'Classification, packaging and labeling of dangerous substances in the European Union, Part 2' testing method A.10. Hydroxyprogesteron should not be considered as highly flammable and no further testing is required.

Endpoint:
substances / mixtures which in contact with water emit flammable gases
Data waiving:
study scientifically not necessary / other information available
Justification for data waiving:
the study does not need to be conducted because the organic substance does not contain metals or metalloids and hence, the classification procedure does not need to be applied

Description of key information

a.) Flammability: Hydroxyprogesteron is a non-flammable solid according to EU method A.10.

b.) Pyrophoric properties: Hydroxyprogesteron did not deliver indications of pyrophoric properties during the realization of other tests. The determination according to UN-MTC Procedure N.2 is not necessary.

c.) Contact with water: A review of the structure suggests that there are no chemical groups present that would imply pyrophoric properties or flammability on contact with water. A review of handling and use implies no pyrophoric properties or flammability on contact with water. Testing according to UN Procedure N.5 is not necessary.

d.) Self-heating substances: Hydroxyprogesteron is not a self-heating substance according to UN-N.4.
