lactate is considered to be readily biodegradable. Therefore, simulation
testing in water and sediment is not required according to REACH Annex
IX, column 2, points 220.127.116.11, 18.104.22.168 and 9.2.3.
Sodium lactate is
predicted to be readily biodegradable. According to Annex IX, column 2,
of Regulation (EC) No 1907/2006 a study on "simulation testing on
ultimate degradation in surface water or sediment simulation testing"
does not have to be conducted if "the substance is readily
biodegradable". Furthermore, it is concluded that the test item does not
have a high potential for adsorption to sediment. According to Annex IX
columns 1 and 2 of Regulation (EC) No 1907/2006, sediment simulation
testing is therefore not required.
