Description of key information

Sodium lactate fully dissociates into Na+ ions and lactate. The ecotoxicology of sodium lactate can be understood in terms of the ecotoxicology of lactic acid. molar ratio to convert from lactic acid by weight to sodium lactate by weight is 1.24.
100 mg/L lactic acid (nominal formulation, nominal active is 88 mg/L) is not inhibiting to activated sludge. This corresponds to 109.5 mg/L sodium lactate.

Key value for chemical safety assessment

EC10 or NOEC for microorganisms:
109.5 mg/L
