Description of key information

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Additional information

In accordance with Regulation (EC) No. 1907/2006, Annex X, Column 2, 9.4 further studies on the effects on terrestrial organisms do not have to be conducted since the chemical safety assessment indicates that there is no need.

As OPP is readily biodegradable and has a DT50 in soil of < 1 d, only low amounts of the active substance are expected to reach the soil. Thus, the exposure of terrestrial organisms like terrestrial arthropods is considered to be low. Furthermore, the terrestrial toxicity of OPP has been tested on the earthworm Eisenia fetida (LC50 (14 d) = 198.2 mg a.i./kg soil dw) and soil microorganisms (NOEC (21 d) ≥ 1 mg a.i./kg soil dw).

Since only low amounts of the active substance are expected to reach the soil and the available data on microorganisms and earthworms are sufficient for the risk assessment, no further testing is required.
