The information requirement for Flash Point is waived, on the basis of ECHA Chapter 7a Guidance (2008) that the information requirement on Flash Point is not relevant for substances which are solids or gases at room temperature. However, several reported values of Flash Point are available from accepted handbook sources and an insufficiently-documented study. These are provided as supporting studies for the critically-reviewed and accepted value of 110 °C reported in the AIChE DIPPR Database (v5.2.2, 2011)
The Merck Index, CRC Handbook of Chemistry and Physics, and Kirk-Othmer
Encyclopedia of Chemical Technology all report the same value: 113°C. A
similar flash point of 112.85°C is reported by another handbook (Daubert
and Danner, 1999). McEwen and Wiederhold (1959) report values of 113 and
115°C as original and final flash point, respectively. The flash point
values reported by the peer reviewed handbooks were considered reliable
(Klimisch 2) whereas the reliability of the flash points reported by
McEwen and Wiederhold (1959) was considered not assignable because data
on materials and methods as well as on interpretation of the results
were lacking. Therefore, all available values were used as Supporting
Studies to substantiate the flash point value of 110 °C used the key
value for the CSA.
