Description of key information

The vapour pressure of biphenyl was determined to be 1.19 Pa at 25 °C by the gas saturation method (Burkhard et al., 1984). Two handbooks delivered supporting vapour pressure values (0.007 and 0.0008-0.004 kPa at 20°C). A third handbook reported vapour pressure values at higher temperatures (liquid biphenyl).

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Vapour pressure:
1.19 Pa
at the temperature of:
298.15 K

Additional information

Burkhard et al. (1984) was considered as a key study yielding a vapour pressure value of 1.19 Pa at 25°C. This measured value is among the critically-reviewed and accepted vapor pressure values reported under the AIChE DIPPR database (v5.2.2, 2011).
