Experimental studies testing the toxicity of disulfiram to terrestrial organisms are not available. Therefore, conclusions for this section were drawn based on data from analogue substances, tetramethylthiuram disulfide (CAS No. 137-26-8) and zinc(bis) dimethyldithiocarbamate (CAS No. 137-30-4). Earthworms showed the highest sensitivity, as mortality was reported (NOEC (14d) = 225 mg a.i./kg dw soil). No significant adverse effects were observed within the remaining terrestrial subgroups. The substance did not affect honey bees survival after oral or contact exposure, with LD50s greater than 100 µg/L. No effects were observed either in soil microflora activity (nitrogen turnover or respiration) or terrestrial plants (growth, condition, survival) up to the concentrations tested. The results from the acute and chronic studies conducted with bird species showed no compound-related mortality. Furthermore, full recovery from sub-lethal clinical symptoms (if present) was observed in all studies during the post-exposure observation period.
