NOEC (33 d) = 4.6 µg a.i./L (Pimephales promelas)

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Additional information

No information on the chronic toxicity of disulfiram (CAS No. 97-77-8) to fish species was available. Therefore, a conclusion about this endpoint has to be drawn based on an analogue substance. Tetramethylthiuram disulfide (CAS No.137-26-8), substance structurally and composition related to tetraethylthiuram disulfide was tested in a study. This test was conducted according to OECD Guideline No. 210 (1992), Fish, Early-Life Stage Toxicity test, under GLP conditions. Fish embryos and, later on, larvae were exposed for 33 days (5 days hatch and 28 days post-hatch) to14C-thiram within a flow-through water regime. Hatching success of fish embryos in the treatment groups did not differ from that in the controls. However, significant effects were observed in larval survival and growth, resulting in a NOEC = 4.6 µg a.i./L (measured concentration)
