The fraction of tar acid rich in 3- and 4-methylphenol, recovered by distillation of low-temperature coal tar crude tar acids.
LC50 (96 h) = 4.4 mg/L on Salmo trutta (static bioassay)
The acute toxicity of o-, m-, and p-cresol to fish was determined
in a static bioassay on several freshwater species (Howland, 1969).
After an exposure period of 96 h the following most critical toxicity
values were found on the single isomers:
o-cresol: LC50 = 6.2 mg/L on Salmo trutta
m-cresol: LC50 = 7.6 mg/L on Salvelinus fontinalis
p-cresol: LC50 = 4.4 mg/L on Salmo trutta
