Two major reports published

ECHA has today published two major reports on the working of REACH and CLP Regulations and on the implementation and use of non-animal test methods and testing strategies. The reports which are based on REACH Art. 117 were submitted to the European Commission and are now available on ECHA´s website. Short summaries of the two reports in 22 languages and video interviews with Jukka Malm, Director of Regulatory Affairs; Leena Ylä-Mononen, Director of Evaluation and Norbert Fedtke, Head of Evaluation Unit II, were also published.

Management Board adopts revised stakeholder eligibility criteria

ECHA´s Management Board has revised the criteria according to which stakeholder organisations are granted an accreditation with ECHA. Additionally, all accredited stakeholders who wish to attend ECHA Committee and Forum meetings need to sign up in the Transparency Register operated by the European Parliament and the European Commission. New REACH Information Portal for Enforcement (RIPE)

The REACH and CLP enforcers can now access registration data through a new portal designed for them. The REACH Information Portal for Enforcement, RIPE, allows REACH and CLP inspectors to search for key information that companies have provided in their dossiers. The June issue of ECHA Newsletter published

The June issue of ECHA Newsletter highlights enforcement in Baden-Wuerttemberg, Germany, and features an interview with the new Head of Unit for the Guidance and Forum Secretariat, Johan Nouwen. You will also find out why substances are placed on the Candidate List, how they are prioritised for authorisation and what is important for applications for authorisation. Read about the QSAR Toolbox development and an interview with the new Technically Qualified Member of the Board of Appeal, Andrew Fasey, who says that companies should not be afraid of the appeals process.

In its meeting of 21-22 June, ECHA´s Management Board elected a new Deputy-Chair, Mr Martin Lynch. Other highlights were the selection criteria for stakeholder organisations, the adoption of the Agency's multi-annual work programme for 2012-14 and the difficulty in getting resources from the 2012 budget

Updated Q&A on Inquiry and Substance Identification available

ECHA has updated the Questions and Answers on Inquiry and has augmented it with a new section on substance identification. The revised document covers several topics that have proven difficult for inquirers. This is one of many steps undertaken by ECHA to reduce the backlog of open inquiries.
