Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Description of key information

In a good quality, based on OECD Guideline 106 and to GLP, an overall mean log Koc value of 5.3 (Koc = 199,526 l/kg) was derived for a C10 and for a radiolabelled C13 chlorinated paraffin (55% chlorination) in soil and sediment (Thompson et al. 1998).

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Additional information

In a GLP study based on OECD Guideline 106 (with modifications due to the low solubility of the test materials and difficulties with analysis), log Koc values were determined for a C10 and a radiolabelled C13 chlorinated paraffin (both 55% chlorination) with repsect of soil and sediment by batch equilibrium experiments. For both test substances, irrespective of whether the treatment was to a soil or to sediment, log Koc values of approximately 5.3 were derived. Close similarity of the log Koc values for the test substances suggest an overall mean log Koc of 5.3 (koc of 199,526 l/kg) can be used for SCCPs chlorinated to 55% by weight (Thompson et al. 1998).
