Description of key information

Second order reaction rate constants have been calculated for C10-13, 49-71% wt Cl, chlorinated paraffins as 2.2-8.2 · 10-12 cm3 molecule-1 s-1 for reaction with hydroxyl radicals. Assuming an atmospheric concentration of hydroxyl radicals of 5 · 105 molecules/cm3, allows atmospheric half-lives of 1.9-7.2 days to be estimated (Hoechst AG, 1988 and 1991; cited in EU, 2000).
