Description of key information

No sediment toxicity studies are available for epichlorohydrin.

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Additional information

Epichlorohydrin has a log Kow value than is less than 3 (log Kow = 0.45), and has a low potential for adsorption or binding to sediments (estimated Koc = 15 L/kg). In addition, direct and indirect exposure of the sediment is unlikely since epichlorohydrin is manufactured and used under controlled conditions and is not expected to be released into the aquatic environment. Additionally, a semi-quantitative risk assessment revealed that the PEC/PNECsediment for epichlorphydrin was < 1 (Chapter 10 of the CSR). Thus, no sediment testing is necessary for epichlorohydrin.
