Additional information

Hydrolysis rate constants cannot be estimated for isononanol with EPI Win. This is because the hydrolysis of an alcohol, i.e. the reaction with water at the C atom bearing the OH-group, would result in the very same alcohol. Therefore, isononanol is stable in water (GUBDH, 2008)

3,5,5 -trimethylhexan-1-ol was not readily biodegradable in the MITI-I test (i.e. OECD 301C) (CERI 2007; NITE; 2002).

The bioconcentration was low in the carp. The values ranged between 4 and 6.3 at test material concentration of 10 µg/L and 3.9 to 8.1 µg/L at 100 µg/L (NITE; 2002).

Model calculations using Mackay Level III fugacity model indicates that the chemical has a strong tendency to absorb to soil following release into soil, air, or water (N.N. 2002).

Note: a full OECD SIDS documentation is available for this chemical which passed the OECD-ICCA/HPV program without further testing, with reference to exposure limitations as it was regarded to be an intermediate; cf. chapter 13 for further details.
