PBT assessment: overall result

PBT status:
the substance is not PBT / vPvB
Justification:

Persistence:

The substance was found to be readily biodegradable in a valid standard screening test. The screening assignment therefore is "not P".

Bioaccumulation:

The substance has a log Kow of 2.2, which is clearly below the cut-off criterion of 4.5 for PBT substances, and as well below the waiving criterion of log Kow 3.0 as given in column 2 of REACH Annex IX. The substance therefore is not to be considered (v)B.

Toxicity:

A study on the toxicity of methyl benzoate to freshwater algae is the only available aquatic toxicity test that can be regarded as a long-term study. The EC10 value found in this study is clearly greater than 0.01 mg/L. The substance has no CMR properties and does not exhibit chronic or target-specific toxicity.

Conclusion:

The substance is not PBT /vPvB.
