Description of key information

Acute toxic to algae: ErC50 (72 h) = 5.67 mg/L

Key value for chemical safety assessment

EC50 for freshwater algae:
5.67 mg/L

Additional information

Algal toxicity was found in the same order of magnitude with EC50s (72 h) of 3.93 mg/L and 5.67 mg/L for biomass production and growth rate, respectively (geometric mean of the results of 2 tests; Eisentraeger et al., 2003). For long-term toxicity to algae see above (acute toxicity) the 72h-value can be regarded as multi-generation value according to the TGD. However, a NOEC value is not given in the study.

Further algal studies are reported. With respect to test durations and endpoints these are rated as not suitable for risk assessment.
