Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Reference
Endpoint:
bioaccumulation in aquatic species: fish
Data waiving:
study scientifically not necessary / other information available
Justification for data waiving:
the study does not need to be conducted because the substance has a low potential for bioaccumulation based on log Kow <=3

Description of key information

Waived: log Kow of the substance is < 3.

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Additional information

In accordance with column 2 of REACH annex IX, bioaccumulation testing is not necessary if the log Kow is < 3. The log Kow for the 2-ethylhexanoate component of the tin bis(2 -ethylhexanoate) salt is log Kow = 2.64 (un-ionized species at pH < 2.8). The estimated log D at pH 7 is approximately 0.6. The Sn(II) portion of the salt is inorganic and insoluble, therefore testing of bioaccumulation is not relevant or necessary.
