Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

study scientifically not necessary / other information available
Justification for data waiving:
the study does not need to be conducted because the substance is readily biodegradable

Description of key information

Waived: The 2-ethylhexanoate component of the tin bis(2 -ethylhexanoate) salt is readily biodegradable.

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Additional information

The tin bis(2 -ethylhexanoate) substance is known to dissociate into the 2-ethylhexanoate and Sn(II) components upon introduction to water. At the circumneutral pH encountered in the environment, these components will occur as the soluble 2-ethylhexanoate anion and insoluble Sn(IV)O2. The former component is readily biodegradable, while the latter is an inorganic species for which testing of biodegradation is neither required nor relevant.
