Decomposes before boiling

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Additional information

During measurement of the autoignition properties of Tin bis(2-ethylhexanoate), the substance was observed to thermally decompose at temperatures at or above 150 °C, giving off grey fumes/smoke. Although decomposition was not observed in DSC experiment up to 400 °C, the sample was not exposed to open atmosphere and thus may have avoided oxidative decomposition. Numerous supplier safety data sheets report boiling temp as "> 200 °C", which also indicates that a precise boiling temp. cannot be determined due to decomposition.
