Description of key information

Kinematic viscosity test results have been reported as:
At 20°C < 0.60 cSt (mean of 2 runs)
At 40°C < 0.60 cSt (mean of 2 runs)
Based on full results kinematic viscosity:
At 20°C = 0.4565 cSt
At 40°C = 0.382 cSt
Using density of 1.653 kg/l, dynamic viscosity is calculated as:
0.755 cP @ 20°C
0.631 cP @ 40°C

Additional information

The method used was changed to allow a range of 0.6 – 60000 cSt, and with the proviso that kinematic viscosity values were tabulated if results were < 0.6 cSt.


The standard test method does not allow for times of less than 200 seconds to be quoted as a viscosity value and states that results be quoted as a less than value if necessary. OECD method 114 –“Viscosity” states that the lower limit for viscosity testing is 0.5 mPa.s (dynamic viscosity).


As such time values are included in the final report.

Testing was actually done to determine kinematic viscosity. Dynamic viscosity is calculated based on kinematic viscosity x density (which for TEL is 1.653g/cm3at 20°C)
