Description of key information

In accordance with column 2 of REACH (Regulation (EC) No 1907/2006) Annex VII, the relative density study (required in section 7.4) does not need to be conducted as the substance is a gas. In this case an estimated calculation of the relative density properties is sufficient taking into account the molecular weight of the substance and the ideal gas law.

Assuming the substance to behave as an ideal gas is somewhat of a simplification but appears acceptable, as the main information needed is whether the substance is lighter or heavier than air, in accordance with column 2 of REACH (Regulation (EC) No 1907/2006) Annex VII, the relative density study (required in section 7.4).

Information on the density of the substance was also sourced from the Yaws Handbook of Physical Properties for Hydrocarbons and Chemicals (Electronic Edition), known to contain peer-reviewed data of Klimisch-2 reliability, which reports that the test substance has a liquid density of ca. 1.41 g/cm^3 at 10°C, P = 3728.76 hPa. Information from non peer-reviewed data are attached however

they have not been included in this assessment.
