Description of key information

According to Yaws Handbook of Physical Properties for Hydrocarbons and Chemicals (Electronic Edition) 2008 perfluoromethyl vinyl ether (PMVE) boils at -26°C at 1 atm.

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Boiling point at 101 325 Pa:
-26 °C

Additional information

Several data are reported in scientific literature:

  • The Beilstein database reports a collection of 4 values originated from different sources indicating boiling point values in the range -29°C to -22°C (for 3 data no indication of the pressure at which the boiling point has been measured is available) ;

  • Haszeldine & Tipping (1968) reports a boiling point value = -26.1 °C (no indication of the pressure at which the boiling point has been measured is reported);

  • Yaws Handbook of Physical Properties for Hydrocarbons and Chemicals (Electronic Edition) 2008 reports a boiling point value = -26 °C at the pressure of 1 atm.

Secondary sources such as Company SDS and Technical Data Sheet also report boiling point values consistent with the publicly available data. In particular:

  • A Company SDS reports a boiling point value = -27.1°C (no indication of the pressure at which the boiling point has been measured is reported);

  • A Company Technical Data Sheet reports a boiling point value = -23°C (no indication of the pressure at which the boiling point has been measured is reported);

Yaws Handbook of Physical Properties for Hydrocarbons and Chemicals (Electronic Edition) which contains peer-reviewed data of Klimisch-2 reliability and includes the pressure at which the boiling point has been measured is selected as key study. All the other data are considered supporting information, being all the value somewhat consistent reporting boiling point values in the range -29°C to -22°C.
