Principles of method if other than guideline:
Distilled water and the substance were combined in each of four conical flasks. The contents were stirred at 20°C for 48 hours and 24 hours. A shorter equilibration time, that recommended by the test method was used because epoxy resin was known to hydrolyze. The excess test substance floated to the surface and onto the surface of the stirring bar leaving a clear saturated aqueous solution for analysis. A portion of the clear solution was recarefully removed from the flask and analyzed by HPLC using direct injection of the sample.

The water solubility of EPIKOTE(TM) 828 has been determined using the flask method. The result obtained was 6.9+/-1.5 mg/L at 20°C.

A study was performed to determine the water solubility of EPIKOTE(TM) 828. The method was amongst those described in EEC Methods for the determination of physicochemical properties, Directive 92/69/EEC (OJ No. L 383A, 29.12.92), Part A, Methods A1 - A7. the physicochemical property determined in this study together with the result obtained is given below.
