An experiment was performed to determine the
viscosity of test chemical by using OECD Test Guideline 114 (Viscosity
of Liquids). In this experiment redwood viscometer was used. During the
experiment, temperature of the test chemical was kept constant at 20°C.
The same experiment was then repeated at test temperature of 40°C.
Dynamic viscosity was then calculated by multiplying the values of
kinematic viscosity and density of test chemical. Three readings were
taken for each temperature (i.e. at 20 °C and 40 °C). The kinematic
viscosity (experimental) at 20 °C and 40 °C was determined to be 36.3831
mm²/sec and 25.0211 mm²/sec, respectively and the dynamic viscosity
(calculated) at 20°C and 40°C was determined to be 38.3259 mPa.S and
26.3572 mPa.S, respectively.
