Description of key information

2-dimethylaminoethyl methacrylate is acute harmful to aquatic invertebrates.

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Fresh water invertebrates

Fresh water invertebrates
Effect concentration:
33 mg/L

Additional information

The acute toxicity of 2-dimethylaminoethyl acrylate to aquatic invertebrates was investigated in two studies. The MOE Japan (1997) reported an EC50 (48h) of 33 mg/L to Daphnia magna using a semi-static test system according to OECD guideline 202. In the second study an EC50 (48 h) of 53 mg/L was measured using the same species. Based on the results it can be concluded that with high probability 2-dimethylaminoethyl methacrylate is acute harmful to aquatic invertebrates.
