Description of key information

The only possible chemical degradation pathway for ethyl-(S)-lactate is hydrolysis of the ester bond. This will only happen in aqueous environment, under influence of acid, or base, catalysts. Therefore, degradation in organic solvents is extremely unlikely. Stability of ethyl-(S)-lactate in organic solvents is not considered to be critical.
