PBT assessment: overall result

PBT status:
the substance is not PBT / vPvB

The combined results of estimation models BIOWIN 2 and 3 were used for preliminary identification of substance with potential for persistency. The estimation results clearly indicate that the substance is not persistent.

The results of experiments evaluating the microbe-mediated transformation of Ethyl centralite suggest that the compound may be successfully removed in a continuous treatment process operated in aerobic mode.

It can therefore be concluded that the substance is not persistent (not P) and not very persistent (not vP) in the environment.

The screening criterion for bioaccumulation is fulfilled. The value Log Kow 4.2 was chosen as key value for CSA and this value is below 4.5.

As the substance does not meet the criteria for being persistent or very persistent, no further assessment on bioaccumulation and toxicity is needed.

Likely routes of exposure:

Ethyl centralite has a solubility 80 mg/L in water and should initially be found in the water. However, due to its solubility in organic compounds, Ethyl centralite could be moderate adsorbed into sediments.
