Description of key information

Hesperidin does not have significant effects on growth rate and biomass of green algae Scenedesmus subspicatus (72 hours exposure) at 100 mg/l nominal loading rate as shown in a test with Flavonoides 90% Micro consisting of 90% bw diosmin (a structural analogon to hesperidin) and 10% bw hesperidin. Considering the water solubility of hesperidin being 5 mg/l, the applied concentration was 2-fold above the water solubility of hesperidin (10% of 100 mg/l) and thus the EC50 is considered > 5 mg/l (maximum solubility).

Flavonoides 90% micro, consisting of 90% diosmin and 10% hesperidin did not significant any effects on growth rate and biomass of green algae Scenedesmus subspicatus (72 hours exposure) at 100 mg/l nominal loading rate. Thus, it can be concluded that diosmin as well as hesperidin does not have significant effects on growth rate and biomass of green algae Scenedesmus subspicatus up to 100 mg/l loading rate (see also read across justification in section 13).
