Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Description of key information

Hesperidin is not highly flammable, is not pyrophoric in contact with air and is not flammable in contact with water.

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Flammability:
non flammable

Additional information

Based on a long experience in handling and use of hesperidin it is known that the substance is not pyrophoric in contact with air nor does it react with water to form flammable gases. This is supported by the fact that hesperidin is present in significant amounts in the white peel of citrus fruits such as oranges and lemons. A screening test on flammability of solids (pure hesperidin as brownish powder, purity > 93%) was performed and after ignition with a burner the substance aggregated to a graphite-coloured swelled mass, which burned first, but the flame died a few seconds after the burner was removed. Thus hesperidin is considered not highly flammable according to method EU A.10 and UN N.1.
