Description of key information

One result for the toxicity of 2-methylaminoethanol to a soil dwelling organism is available; a GLP long-term reproduction study on earthworms was conducted according to OECD TG 222 (BASF SE, 2016; report no. 68E0540/07G183). The substrate was artificial soil. After 28 days of exposure no mortality was observed for the adult earthworms. The effect on reproduction was assessed after a further 28 days. The effect values for reproduction (by count of juvenile worms) were: 56-d EC10: 201 mg/kg soil dw; 56-d EC50: 637 mg/kg soil dw.

No further tests on terrestrial organisms are provided since exposure to the soil compartment is unlikely. An indirect exposure to soil via STP is also can be ruled out becase the substance is "readily biodegradable". Additionally, due to its low logPow an accumulation of the substance in terrestrial organisms is not expected.
