Description of key information

2-Methylaminoethanol (CAS 109-83-1) is not subject to hydrolysis, but readily biodegradable (BASF AG, 1993).

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Additional information

N-Methylethanolamine is not expected to undergo hydrolysis in the environment due to the lack of functional groups that hydrolyze under environmental conditions. Hence this endpoint can be waived. In accordance with column 2 of REACH Annex VII, the study does not need to be performed if the substance is readily biodegradable or inorganic. 2-Methylaminoethanol (CAS 109-83-1) is readily biodegradable (BASF AG, 1993).
