EC number: 201-622-7
CAS number: 85-68-7
Only one peak identified on HPLC chromatograms attributable to
metabolites. This was visible in samples collected on days 1 or 2.
This peak is attributable to monobutyl phthalate and/or monobenzyl
phthalate (these substances could not be spectrally distinguished)
This peak is not found is spectrograms of samples taken on day 22, or in
samples which were stored in a refrigerator till 60 days after the end
of the experiment before analysis.
This suggests that the metabolites degrade rapidly.
In a non-guideline, non-GLP study on the biodegradation of benzyl butyl
phthalate the only metabolites identified were monobutyl phthalate
and/or monobenzyl phthalate (these substances could not be spectrally
distinguished). The metabolites were found to degrade rapidly.
