Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Description of key information

There was no inhibitory effect on sewage sludge bacteria up to the concentration of 55.7 mg/l. Thus, the concentration 55.7 mg/l can be selected to estimate the PNECSTP.

Key value for chemical safety assessment

EC50 for microorganisms:
55.7 mg/L
EC10 or NOEC for microorganisms:
55.7 mg/L

Additional information

In the test report assessing the biodegradability (OECD 301 F) of N,N,N',N'-tetrakis(2-hydroxypropyl) hexanediamide, the toxicity control showed no inhibitory effect to the biodegradation of the test substance up to the substance concentration of 55.7 mg/l. Therefore, no microorganism toxicity was seen and according to the REACH guidance of “Guidance on information requirements and chemical safety assessment Chapter R.7b: Endpoint specific guidance”, no further test for the substance need to be conducted to evaluate the respiration inhibition of active sludge. The concentration used in the toxicity control (55.7 mg/l) can be selected to estimate the PNECSTP.

Absence of toxicity to microorganisms is also supported by the results with the structurally similar substance N,N,N',N'-tetrakis(2-hydroxyethyl) hexanediamide in an OECD 209 study, in which sludge microorganisms were exposed to 1000 mg/L for three hours. No inhibition was observed and thus, the EC50 was determined as >1000 mg/L with the surrogate substance.
