Description of key information

The test substance Primid QM-1260 is hardly biodegradable according to a Ready Biodegradability Manometric Respirometry Test, OECD 301F, test result. However, there is no significant toxicity effect occurred to microbial respiration up to 55.7 mg/L, since the biodegradation of the mixture in the testing system was within the theoretical value.

under test conditions no biodegradation observed

Additional information

The biodegradability of Primid QM-1260 was exposed to activated sludge derived from a municipal sewage treatment plant. It was tested under aerobic static exposure conditions in a manometric respiration test according to OECD 301F for ready biodegradability.

Based on O₂ consumption during the 28 days test, it was found that Primid QM-1260 is hardly biodegradable, comparing to the theoretical oxygen demand (ThOD). The positive control reference sodium benzoate reached 78% biodegradation after 14 days, confirming suitability of inoculum and test conditions. The calculated biodegradation ratio with respect to DOC reached 7% for Primid QM-1260 and 100 % for sodium benzoate. Thus, it can be concluded that no significant biodegradation of Primid QM-1260 occurred following exposure duration of 28 days.

Primid QM-1260 did not reach the pass level of 60% for ready biodegradability in the Manometric Respirometry Test within the 10-day window, nor after 28 days. Therefore, it is considered to be a non-readily biodegradable substance.

The toxicity of Primid QM-1260 to microorganisms was also investigated by applying the toxicity control, and the results showed that this substance has no significant toxic effect on the microbial activity.
